Review: Moonlight Mile by Dennis Lehane

moonlight mileI’ve had this book in my collection since Borders went out of business. This hardcover book was close to $30 but I got it for a couple bucks because the store was going kaput. Thanks, Borders! *pours one out for Borders*

Apparently, this is book 6 in a series. I had no idea it was a series, nor did it really affect my enjoyment of the book. Patrick Kenzie is a private investigator who is drawn into the disappearance of a 16-year-old girl who had been kidnapped at four years old… and who he was responsible for returning to her parents who turned out weren’t so great. Faced with the guilt of whether he did the right thing for young Amanda, Patrick vows to find out what happened to her in the present day.

The story takes a few twists that you won’t expect, and is overall very well done. Once I got into it, I didn’t want to put it down – not even for Easter dinner. For a book that only cost me a few bucks in 2010, I’d say it was worth it.
