Review: #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso

girlboss.jpgI’ll take a break from my true crime reading rampage to pen a quick review of this book. I have to admit that I had never heard of NastyGal before I read Amoruso’s hybrid biography/business advice book. It’s apparently a vintage clothing website which blossomed from a simple eBay store to a full-blown corporation.

Amoruso shares how she found her calling after failing multiple times, working jobs she hated, and knowing what she DIDN’T want to do with her life. Vintage clothing and styling was her passion, and she was able to cultivate her passion and grow it into an empire.

She offers advice throughout the book while telling her story, and it’s mostly aimed at women, but any budding entrepreneur could benefit from her tips. You don’t even have to be trying to start your own business; there are plenty of nuggets in here about how to get ahead in your career no matter what it is.

Other female leaders offer short essays throughout the book, so you have plenty of inspiration to choose from throughout.

This book spawned a Netflix series, which I find kind of intriguing, so I’ll definitely be giving that a whirl just to see what it’s all about.
